The victim has been formally identified as 52-year-old Paul Sharp on Friday 27 October.
He had been found on Wednesday 25 October when police officers were called to the scene on a property at Redscope Crescent at 7.40 BST.
He was found with serious injuries and a post mortem examination revealed he died as a result of being stabbed.
In a statement to South Yorkshire Police, Mr Sharp’s family said: “Paul’s death has brought deep sadness and is even more shocking due to the tragic circumstances.
“As a family we kindly ask that our privacy is respected at this difficult time, and we hope that justice is secured for him.”
Two men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of murder and have been bailed whilst enquiries continue. A 43-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
The investigation is ongoing and police urge anyone with any information to contact them via their online portal or by calling 101.
