A mum of two vows to never use Rotherham town centre toilets again after her 5-year-old son discovers blood stained needle drop off.

Whitney Ainscough, 29, was with her two children in Rotherham town centre when they decided to use the public toilet near the bus station.

After paying a 20p entry fee, Miss Ainscough was shocked to hear her son ask: ‘‘Mum why is there blood?”

She said: “I went in and told him to use a different one whilst I had a look and saw a needle bin with blood on the top, it is absolutely disgusting.

“They could have any blood disease and my son has ADHD and potentially ASD and a tendency to touch things he should not. I will never use those toilets again.”

Miss Ainscough took to Facebook and shared to her 51,000 followers the grisly discovery, with many of the comments sharing their disgust.

Additionally, she gained 45,000 views on TikTok from the video where over 100 people expressed their shock at the toilet cubicles condition.

On the Rotherham Borough council website, in regards to needle disposal, it states: “Needles and similar items should be wrapped to prevent injury and placed with general waste.

“The Council provides a free, confidential service for the collection and disposal of domestic medical waste such as swabs, dressings, needles and used syringes.”

Miss Ainscough added: “It is not acceptable in public toilets that kids use and if that is the case they should make a separate one for drug users, otherwise it is basically saying it is fine to come in here and do drugs.”
