Rotherham football club has sacked Matt Taylor after 5-0 loss against Watford.
Mr Taylor’s tenure with the Yorkshire club spanned 13 months, a period marked by his transition from Exeter City to the role previously held by Paul Warne at the New York Stadium.
His last match in charge was the 5-0 defeat to Watford, leaving the club four points away from safety.
Despite successfully steering Rotherham to safety last season, Taylor leaves the club after only securing two victories from his last 16 league games in charge.
In a statement issued by club chairman Tony Stewart, he mentioned that the quest for a new manager was already in progress.
He said: “It was felt by myself and the Board that we had to act now by making a managerial change in order to give ourselves the best possible chance of retaining our Sky Bet Championship status this season.
“We are grateful to Matt for his efforts over the course of the last year and it has not been an easy decision to make. It goes without saying that he leaves with the very best wishes of everyone here at Rotherham United.”
The club is actively searching for a replacement, with their next match scheduled at home against Leeds United on 24 November.
