The event for women’s empowerment has made a return for the eighth time to Rotherham to encourage safe nights out for residents.
Speakers at the event will be talking about women’s safety through stories of drink spiking, the reporting of incidents and the impact of incidents targeted towards women.
The evening kicked off with a march through Rotherham Town Centre at 6pm, followed by refreshments and inspiring speakers at the Ministry Pavilion.
Councillor Emma Hoddinott, one of Reclaim the Night’s organisers, said: “Rotherham held its first Reclaim the Night in 2015 and every year since then, we have come together to talk about issues that women in our town face.
“Part of the event is to meet in the town centre and ‘reclaim the streets’ to highlight how they should be safe for all. I hope people will be able to join an inspiring and informative evening.”
The event is in collaboration with Flux Rotherham and South Yorkshire Violence Reduction.
