A 20-year-old man who died in a car crash in Rotherham last weekend has been named as Dylan Houghton from Sheffield.

Mr Houghton was driving a black Suzuki Jimny at around 1.15am on Sunday 19 November, when he came off the road and crashed into a tree on Pennyhill Lane, Ulley.

Mr Houghton sadly died at the scene.

South Yorkshire Police say they are supporting Mr Houghton’s family following his passing and asked the public to allow the family to grieve.

In a statement, they said: “We would ask that their privacy is respected at this time as they come to terms with the loss of Dylan.”

According to data from the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership, in 2022, 35 people in South Yorkshire died in road traffic accidents and a further 786 were seriously injured.

SYSRP commemorated the lives of everyone who died in road traffic accidents at the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims last weekend.

A spokeswoman for SYSRP said: “It is vitally important that we acknowledge the work of our dedicated emergency services, support workers and charities.

“They deal with the traumatic aftermath of road crashes on a daily basis.”

South Yorkshire Police say enquiries about the accident remain ongoing and have asked people to share any CCTV or dashcam footage they may have of the incident.
