After the cold and snowy weather overnight, Met Office has released a yellow weather warning for ice in Yorkshire and Humber.

This morning, the Met Office issued a weather warning, saying ‘icy patches are likely to develop this evening and overnight leading to difficult travel conditions.’ The time of the warning is from 1700 pm today until tomorrow noon.

They warned to look out for icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths – and icy surfaces that may cause injuries from slips and falls.

The weather forecast from the Met Office shows low temperatures below 10 °C throughout the week, the maximum temperature for today being 2 °C and a minimum of -3 °C.

The fairly heavy snow in South Yorkshire has already been heavily impacting the road and largely disrupting travel conditions for buses.

It has also resulted in the cancellation of this year’s Percy Pud 10k run, which was initially scheduled for today. The organisers, Steel City Striders, are working on rescheduling the run, hopefully by next Sunday.
