The Sheffield Steelkings have announced plans to create a junior side after they won the BPIHL playoff earlier in the month.

Both the Steelkings and their second side, the Steelstings, made the playoffs, which the Kings won 3-1 in the final against the Cardiff Huskies.

Speaking after their training session after the victory, chairman and first team player-coach Jake Oakley said he has been working on developing a youth side at the club.

He aims to improve the standard of para ice hockey in the UK, with there being no access to the sport for youngsters in Britain at the moment.

The Edge spoke to Oakley about his plans for the teams in the future and how he plans to increase accessibility to one of the biggest Paralympic competitions.
