Ice hockey side the Nottingham Panthers have set up a fundraiser for Adam Johnson’s hometown following his passing after an incident against the Sheffield Steelers.

The 29-year-old tragically passed away after being hit with a skate across his neck, which led to him having a cardiac arrest and dying in hospital.

After his death, which was announced on Sunday 29 October, his club, the Nottingham Panthers, have announced a fundraiser to support charitable activities in Hibbing, Minnesota, where Johnson was from.

The “Love for Hibbing and Hockey Memorial Fund”, which was set up with the approval of Johnson’s family, had at the time of writing raised over £28,000 for charity.

The Nottingham Panthers said: “Our thoughts and condolences remain with Adam’s family, his partner, and all his loved ones at this challenging time.

Nothing can undo the hurt that they and we are all feeling.”
