A Conisborough couple have taken to TikTok with their paranormal investigations, ‘ghost hunting’ at some of the most haunted spots in South Yorkshire.
Buckley’s Paranormal is run by Dean and Veronica Buckley, who say their love for the paranormal is more about history than it is about the supernatural.
Veronica claims to be a spiritual medium, who enjoys getting immersed in the history of a building by communicating with ghosts.
Veronica said: “the most haunted place I’ve been to in South Yorkshire is Wathdown Hall. Because it was originally built with the foundations of 3 cottages, I felt the presence of the original houses more. I saw maids that used to work there, children playing on the stairs, one of the ex-household owners. He said he was in one of the forces but confessed that he falsley declared that for the house.
“I find the things I pick up on inspirational, it makes me love history again. I feel so honored when I’m given information, and when my research matches what I’ve intuitively felt it gives me a second buzz. It’s really validating.
“I only feel horrible things when the spirit was that way in life. If an abusive person passes on and doesn’t make peace with themselves, they will come across like that in the after life too. I try not to pick up on negative energies. I pick up on the happiness.”
Veronica took up ghost hunting around 22 years ago after she lost her son. Following his death, she took her other two children and moved up to Yorkshire to start a new life.
She said: “I knew I had an ability before, but when he passed I just wanted to know that my son was at peace. It changed my life, he showed me to truly live.
“I started going to spiritualist churches and working with spirit. It brings me comfort to go on investigations. When I give messages in a spiritualist church it’s uplifting. I see that I can help people going through a grieving process. That’s what spiritualism and mediumship is about.
“In this business, we get classed as being witches, but we’re just history buffs. We want to find out the true history of what went on, not just an overview that TV tells us.”
