Reports of gun fire on Shaw Road in Doncaster has led to an increased police presence in the area.
On 17 October at 11.30pm, a resident reported gunshots in a local property which damaged the house. The incident is alleged to be a targeted attack
There have been no injuries or arrests made in connection with the crime.
A cordon which has since been removed was placed in the area, as well as an increased police presence on the scene.
Detective Inspector Chris Ronayne, the Senior Investigating Officer, said: “This was a very alarming and worrying incident that happened in a small residential street late at night.
“I fully appreciate how concerning this is for the community.
“Carrying a gun and firing it aimlessly at a home is the epitome of callous behaviour, and it is something we will not tolerate in our communities.”
South Yorkshire Police are investigating the crime, and have carried out door-to-door enquiries on Shaw Road.
High-visibility patrols are expected to remain in place in the street and surrounding area for the next few days.
DCI Ronayne said: “The message to those involved in this type of criminality is clear: we are coming for you, and we will work relentlessly to bring those who carry a gun to justice.”
Damage was also done to a car on the house’s driveway, which police believe was caused by a blunt object.
