‘Your Pet Food Bank’ is holding a fundraiser event on 15 December to raise awareness and funds for their charity.

The organisation provides pet food to food banks, community centres and homeless charities to provide to those who need it most.

Alison Smith started the group in 2021 to help keep more pets in their homes but after a recent turn in health, she has been struggling to keep the charity going and meet demands.

The charity hopes the event will encourage more people to volunteer and donate, ultimately preventing them from closing.

Miranda Allen, who works at ‘Your Pet Food Bank’, said: “I heard about the charity initially on Facebook where the owner said she was struggling, so I offered to help with collections.

“The event is so important for raising awareness. There will be bingo, tombola and raffles on the night. There will also be live comedy and music acts which will definitely be the highlight.”

Your Pet Food Bank also supports rescue centres that are dealing with more people needing to rehome their pets.

Since its opening in April 2021, the group has donated more than 200,000 pet meals along with essential items such as treats, cat litter, collars, leads, and outdoor coats.

The fundraiser will be held at Sheffield Transport Club and tickets will be £10 for adults and £5 for under 18s.
