William Grave was once a paranormal sceptic but has now successfully published his first book ‘The Lady in the Bay Window.’
The book retells 25 eerie tales of Grave’s own experience living in a haunted Sheffield home for the last 18 years.
Grave’s mother passed away from breast cancer in May this year and in her honour, all profits from book sales are being donated to Cavendish Cancer Care.
The charity continues to provide support to people diagnosed with cancer, as well as those caring for someone with cancer.
So far, ‘The Lady in the Bay Window’ has had huge success in the first thirteen days of it being sold, selling over 1000 copies and raising an incredible £5000 for Cavendish Cancer Care.
William Grave said: “My mum was diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer pretty much five years ago to the day. When that happened, I felt pretty helpless and I wanted to support her somehow.
“I’ve never written before, but I had a lightbulb moment when I thought, maybe other people will like to hear these stories. So I lay down that night and started writing.
“It took three years to write and publish it myself.”
Not wishing to give too much away, Grave admitted he had almost moved out of his house after enduring unexplainable activity while living in this residence.
He said: “The old lady in my house has been seen five times, all by different people who didn’t know each other at the time.
‘Tuesday morning a few weeks ago, I was woken up by a xylophone, 7 o’clock in the morning. I thought it was me with my music or phone left on, but my phone and work phone were out of charge.
“My wife was asleep and the baby was asleep in the cot, and then I realised the noise was coming from the other side of the room, our wardrobe.
“As I went up to it the noise stopped and as it stopped I heard, as if someone was standing there, this guttural noise like a coughing in my ear and I froze.
“It happened twice that week, the xylophone playing the same cheerful melody.”
After visiting, one of Grave’s friends even refused to ever visit the house ever again and has not returned in fifteen years.
“I’m still a sceptic, I look for the logical answer to everything that happens in the house, but I’ve seen and witnessed things that there just are no logical reasons behind it.”
Upon visiting the home, paranormal investigators ‘Awakening the Paranormal’ who have over 82,000 followers (Tiktok: @awakeningtheparanormal) admitted that out of all the properties they have visited, it is by far one of the most haunted.
Grave has even been able to acquire recordings of the footsteps and unexplainable noises heard.
The book’s launch night is on the 8th of December, at Library by Lounge, Sheffield, featuring live music and the chance to have books signed.
All proceeds continue to be donated to Cavendish Cancer Care.
