The Met Office has predicted snow later this week across the UK and Yorkshire, as temperatures dip.
A yellow snow and ice warnings have been issued for the next three days in Yorkshire, including coastal towns Whitby and Scarborough.
We can expect sunny spells this Thursday and Friday but also sleet and snow showers.
Showers are to be likely heaviest and most frequent near coasts. Similarly, on Saturday, showers are to push further inland.
Advice has been issued for those attempting to travel in ice or snow later this week:
- Plan your route
- Check for delays and road closures
- Leave more time to prepare and check your car before setting off
- Check wipers, tyres and screenwash
- Pack essentials in your car
- Take a fully charged mobile phone with an in-car charger or battery pack
Admiral car insurance has previously suggested that severe road traffic accidents happen in winter due to many motorists being unprepared for driving in winter weather and ignoring weather warnings.
BBC health and safety guidelines recommend you only make car journeys that are really necessary under harsh winter weather conditions.
