Teaming up for a Christmas market fundraiser this weekend, South Yorkshire Street Cats and Animal Shelter Agonda (ASA UK) are encouraging people across South Yorkshire to ‘step up’ and support animal welfare.
South Yorkshire Street Cats work with feral, stray and injured cats from across South Yorkshire, and ASA Outreach feed, neuter and rescue stray dogs in India.
Elaine Bates, 68, founder, member and volunteer of ASA Outreach, said: “The work that South Yorkshire Street Cats do is going to benefit the community enormously when it comes to stray cats and kittens.
“Our charity [ASA], is abroad so some people may not see our work. It’s the community’s interest that keeps us going.”
Speaking on partner charity South Yorkshire Street Cats, Elaine said: “If it’s possible, we want the community to step up and help.”
The Animal Rescue Christmas Market will be at Hoyland Common Working Men’s Club, Fitzwilliam Street, in Barnsley, 1 December. Running from 1-4 PM, the fundraiser will include tombolas, baked goods, a hot chocolate station, vintage clothing and more.
Winter coats, dresses, and gift sets will also be for sale.
All proceeds raised will go directly into helping both charities.
