The rioter who supplied debris, which was hurled at police officers, has been jailed today for two years and three months.
Jake Turton drove a red Ford Ranger loaded with wood planks to the large-scale violent disorder which occurred at a Holiday Inn Hotel in Manvers, Rotherham on Sunday 4th August.
Rioters were taking pieces of debris from the back of his vehicle and using them as missiles to launch at officers.
The planks of wood were also used to fuel fires around the building which was housing asylum seekers.
Over 50 officers were injured, as well as harm to both police dogs and horses who attended the unruly scene.
The 38-year-old was arrested after the registration of the vehicle linked his father to the car.
He admitted it was him using his father’s car, followed by pleading guilty to violent disorder at Sheffield Crown court on the 24th October.
Today, Turton, of West Street in Darfield, Barnsley has been jailed for two years and three months.
