An eye-catching charity event ‘Ladies night for Wheels of Hope‘ is being held by the private ambulance company, JL Medical Services, in Barnsley, on 29 November.

The event will feature drag queens, strippers, and ‘naughty bingo’.

The charity night is part of the ‘Wheels of Hope’ fundraiser to send ambulance aid to Ukraine, hoping to raise £6000 to purchase the ambulance. The ambulance will be filled with aid and medical equipment.

The event organiser, Blue Taylor, 27, said: “My client Chris is an ex-combat medic, so it’s a personal cause. My client’s team of medics are still stationed in Ukraine. The more we raise the more aid we can send.”

Having served alongside some of the UK medics in Ukraine, Chris understands the critical role they play in saving lives amid the ongoing conflict.

The medics work to provide emergency care to both soldiers and civilians caught in the crossfire. However, they face significant challenges, including a lack of reliable transportation to reach the wounded quickly.

Speaking about his client at JL Medical Services, Blue Taylor said: “He sent me quite a profound picture, actually, and it’s a child’s shoe on top of a rock, in front of a destroyed maternity hospital.

“That’s what sold it for me, and why I got involved. While we unfortunately seem to be quite a divided world at the moment, we’re all human beings. We all count, we all matter, and every person and every child deserves to feel safe.”

The cause only started in September 2024, but JL Medical Services have already donated one of their own ambulances to the cause.

Blue Taylor said: “It’s not ‘this event is for you and that event is for them’, we should all come together as a community regardless of where we are and where we’re from.

“Any support from the community, no matter whether it be 50 pence or a pound or whatever people can do; it all adds up to make a massive difference. We’re truly grateful for any form of donation.”

By donating to the Wheels of Hope campaign, you can directly support those on the front lines.

Contributions will help fund a fully equipped ambulance, enabling them to transport the injured to safety and provide life-saving treatment on the move.
