Two former students at the University of Manchester founded a ground-breaking app that centralises student living and lifestyle.
The Housr Living app was founded in 2019 by Harry Panter and Ben Clayton whilst studying at The University of Manchester, and was designed to help condense all student housing, bills, discounts, and transport into one app.
Harry Panter, 24, Co-founder of Housr, said: “The whole art of Housr is built so that you can focus on everything other than student housing.
“No phone calls, no emails to letting agents, no talking to letting agents, just three clicks so that you’re not missing out on the best properties”.
Since Housr Living’s foundation, Harry and Ben have grown Housr into a multi-million-dollar company, generating up to £10.9m in revenue in 2025 alone, helping over 30,000 students sort their housing across the US and UK in the past year, with Housr showing no signs of stopping, as Mr Panter aims to help over 1 million students with accommodation and amenities.
In October 2025, the University of Birmingham recently signed a partnership with Housr to act as a layer between the university and students for on-campus properties on its behalf, with Mr Panter aiming to reach every university in the UK, including the University of Sheffield.
Housr’s prides itself on its customer service, making for a ‘hassle-free’ customer experience, providing competition for Sheffield-based Uni Homes.
“We make sure to solve the problems before they become problems. We know about it because we consistently check in on how things are going”.
Housr is developing plans for new innovative projects, including in-app incentives for every pound you spend on rent, you receive a proportion of cash back, with Mr Panter describing it as if Rightmove and Revolute had a baby.
Housr has completely ‘flipped the script for the industry’ for letting agents too, as Housr pays the letting agents to rent their home for them, rather than being charged, which has helped deliver over $12.4m in rental revenue potential to local landlords of University Institutions.
“I see Housr as not just a way to change the lives of students and the industry of student housing, but also build a generational company that’ll build enough wealth to go on and properly change the world”.
