On the last Wednesday before the Christmas holidays each year, students at the University of Sheffield gather across the city for various challenges set out by their sports societies.
From treasure hunts to pub crawls, the social secretaries of each club work overtime on this day to create a day of festive fun.
Starting at 9am sharp, the festivities last all day and night. In the evening all the societies head to Bar One, located in the Student Union, and then on to the infamous ROAR club night.
Freya Smith, Social Secretary for Sheffield University Athletics Club, says, “It’s hands down the best day of the year. It’s one last chance to see all your mates properly before the Christmas holidays and exam period starts.”
She added: “Everyone gets drunk and enjoys themselves. But it takes so much planning for the club committees to make sure everyone has fun but in a safe and friendly way.”
