Taxi licence fees and charges will rise in Sheffield for the first time in eight years, it has been confirmed.
The increase will impact private hire drivers and their vehicles, hackney carriage drivers and their vehicles along with private hire operators from February 2025.
A report published ahead of a Sheffield City Council waste and street scene policy committee meeting said the move, the first since 2016, was due to “increased costs to the service”.
The committee previously heard the overall costs associated with the service were more than £1,000,000 for the previous financial year, with an income of about £830,000, resulting in a deficit of approximately £170,000.
