Air Jordan is one of the biggest fashion brands in history, selling millions of apparels, jerseys and shoes every single year. In 2016, Jordan first branched into the footballing world through their boot partnership with Neymar Jr, where two iterations of the Jordan 5 inspired boots took the footballing world by storm.

In 2018, Nike announced their leading sportwear brand, would be partnering exclusively with Paris-Saint Germain, in what has been one of the most iconic partnerships in football. Over the last 8 years of this collab, the two brands have become synonymous with each other, with the first Jordan x PSG shirt selling over 150,000 jerseys in its first month of release.

Since then, there have been a total of 14 shirts released, being repped by some of the biggest superstars in the world. Whilst some of these kits have been a feast for the eyes, some haven’t lived up to the hype.

With the Parisians heading for their second Champions League final, The Kitroom Collective have ranked all 14 iterations of this ground-breaking collab.

14. 20/21 Fourth Kit.

Easily the most experimental kit from this collaboration — but the gamble didn’t pay off. It looks more like a training top than a match kit, and it’s had just as few iconic moments.

The 2020/21 season was the first to be played in lockdown, with PSG surrendering their hostage of the Ligue 1 title to Lille, only the second time they’ve failed to win the league in the last 15 years.

This shirt itself was inspired by the infamous Air Jordan 3, taking elements of the iconic elephant print and implementing a pink, purple and black colour scheme.

Whilst we love the idea, we believe this kit should’ve remained just that.

13. 19/20 Away Kit

The primary function of an away shirt is to differentiate from the home, and this kit smashes it in that regard. However, as a fashion piece… we’re not sure.

Taking inspiration from 1991 Air Jordan VI, with its infrared shade, this kit is bold and striking, offering something very different to every shirt to be released during this partnership.

With Thomas Tuchel’s men storming their way to a Champions League final, their football will be remembered much more fondly that what their players wore.

12. 22/23 Fourth Kit

Donned ‘The City of Lights’, this kit takes inspiration from the French capitals famous nickname.

The shirt features a stray of yellow lines, which dart across a black background, paying homage to the famous lights of the Eifel Tower, to produce one of the more unique design ideas from a football shirt.

Whilst we love the idea and originality behind this shirt, it’s very marmite in its reception, with their being potential for it to be ranked higher, however there are much nicer kits from this fruitful partnership.

11. 23/24 Third Kit

Marking the 5th anniversary of the Jordan x PSG collaboration, the Third shirt for the 2023/24 season features a bold elephant print, with the shirt being completely blacked out.

This elephant print engulfs the sides of the kit, whilst a blank streak down the centre of the shirt makes the kit feel much more elegant and smarter.

The shirt itself is sleek but quite forgettable, being almost completely overshadowed by the fourth kit from the same season.

It’s a much more fashionable shirt than those lower in this list, however, not enough to break the top 10.

10. 21/22 Home Kit

The first season where Jordan replaced Nike’s logo as the primary manufacturers and the only time this has been done since.

The kit is extremely simple. The famous navy blue of PSG dominates the shirts design, with red and trimmings on the sleeves and collar.

The kit breaks tradition and does it to full effect, bringing the basketball aesthetic to the football field.

A kit that is very hard to forget, with Lionel Messi a screamer at the Parc De Princes against Manchester City for his first Champions League goal for PSG. A kit marked by an iconic moment.

A very nice shirt indeed.

9. 18/19 Fourth Kit

Primarily featuring in the Champions League, this white shirt is a great example of simple but effective.

An all-white shirt, with a dotted line running down the centre of the shirt creates a really clean aesthetic, suitable of one of the world’s most fashionable football clubs.

In 2022, Messi, Neymar and Mbappe were an unstoppable force, tearing up France and Europe in this all-grey outfit.

The shirt pays homage to PSG’s home, the Parc Des Princes, celebrating the stadium’s 50th anniversary, where 1147 matches were played at the historic venue up to that point.

One moment football fans will remember is PSG’s 7-1 demolition away at Lille, where MNM put on a clinic, featuring a wonderful Mbappe goal scored immediately from kick off.

A decent shirt, but there’s better.

7. 23/24 Fourth Kit

The lighter version of the Third kit, this shirt is much nicer than its counterpart.

Incorporating the same design, with the elephant print, however the hemp colouring brings out the playfulness of the print.

The colour of this shirt was inspired by the Qatar National Museum in Doha, where PSG Women’s players take part in a photoshoot every year.

The colour draws inspiration from the sand-pink architecture, designed by French architect, Jean Nouvel, who studied at the famous Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Now we’re getting to the beauties.

This stunning Bordeaux colourway pays tribute to the Air Jordan VII, debuted by Michael Jordan in the 1992 NBA All-Star game.

Featuring a burgundy base, white and black sleeves alongside golden colouring on the badge and sponsor, make for a truly spectacular shirt.

This kit really makes the partnership feel like royalty.

5. 21/22 Fourth Kit

Another example of simple but effective.

This all-white shirt was featured in the second half of the 2021/22 season, for both men’s and women’s teams.

Celebrating the 4th year of the partnership, the kit takes inspiration from the famous uniforms of the Chicago Basketball Team.

On the field, PSG had a poor season by their standard, exiting the Champions League during the round of 16 phase, this kit is a wonderful bandage over that wound.

4. 24/25 Third Kit

In what could be a truly massive year for the club in terms of success, where they can achieve continental success, they will do pretty in pink.

A truly breathtaking shirt, making the most of the pastel colour scheme, with a thick black stripe draped down the centre.

This kit makes oozes class and will one day be synonymous with the raw explosive talent of Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and possible Ballon D’or winner, Ousmane Dembele.

3. 24/25 Fourth Kit

This could easily be number one.

This shirt is a truly breathtaking jersey, partnering their excellent Champions League and domestic campaign.

Part of the ‘Wings’ collection, the famous Air Jordan logo’s wings shoot down the sleeves in an extremely unique design.

Desire Doue’s majestic turns and Vitinha’s sumptuous passes are all made better when wearing this gorgeous shirt.

What a truly fantastic shirt this is.

PSG have had some wonderful black shirts across the years but and this is one of the best.

The alternative to the white counterpart, this all-black kit features a white stripe that travels vertically down the centre.

Featuring the likes of Edinson Cavani, Marco Verratti and Neymar Jr, this jersey is fit to accompany some of the Parisian clubs all-time greats.

The pinnacle of this collaboration.

First worn against Montpellier, the all-black shirt features red, white and blue stripes which drape vertically down the shirt, showcasing the club’s French pride.

The launch of this shirt coincides with the inaugural NBA season, played at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris.

In 2019, Neymar Jr was at the peak of his powers, tearing through defences all across Europe, alongside Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria.

Defenders watched as a blur of all black and pink hair moved each and every other way around them for 90 minutes.

The crème de la crème of the Jordan x PSG collaboration.

With the partnership between Les Rouge-et-Bleu and Michael Jordan reaching nearly a decade in duration, it’s safe to say that some incredible shirts have featured as a result.

As Nike continues to push the realms of creativity ever higher with this iconic mix, The Kitroom Collective to seeing what’s in store for the future.
