England will open their World Cup campaign in Dallas against Croatia on Wednesday 17 June, so if you’re heading out there here is your one stop guide to having the ultimate fan experience.…
A city possibly best known for the assassination of US President John F Kennedy in November 1963, Dallas will host nine matches at the tournament.
Matches will take place in the Dallas Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, located in the suburb of Arlington. It is roughly 10 miles south of the city’s main airport, the DFW International Airport and 20 miles west of downtown Dallas.
The most common way to travel to the stadium is by bus, which will cost you around £4 for a single to the Croatia game. Very good value compared to the $80 fans will have to pay to get out to the MetLife stadium, the venue for the final.
Not going to the game? The fan park is located on Grand Avenue in the city centre. It will be free to get in.
One of the cheapest hotel options for two guests for two nights either side of the match day is at the Sheraton Hotel in Galleria in northern Dallas at around £331 for two nights.
Dallas is considered one of the cheaper World Cup host cities.
Dallas Stadium
The stadium opened in May 2009 and features a retractable roof and holds up to 80,000 for football.
It is home to the Dallas Cowboys who have won the Super Bowl five times, most recently in 1995.
They are backed by the world famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
In February 2011 the stadium hosted Super Bowl 45, between Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers which attracted an attendance of over 100,000. The Green Bay Packers won the game 31-25.
