Taylor Swift has announced that she has successfully bought back her masters, and has admitted in a letter on her website that owning her music, no strings attached, was \u2018all she ever wanted\u2019.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After 4 years of re-releasing 5 of her old albums, coined under the term \u2018Taylor\u2019s Version\u2019, Taylor has officially managed to secure a deal with Shamrock Capital to buy everything back. No strings attached. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This comes as a huge shock, as well as celebration to fans, who were not-so patiently waiting for the last two recordings, particularly Reputation Taylors Version and her debut album, Taylor Swift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has said that she had her debut album fully recorded and ready to go, but she was struggling with making Reputation stating: \u201cTo be perfectly honest, it’s the one album in those firsts 6 that i thought couldn’t be improved upon by redoing it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She believes there may be a time for the vault tracks to be released, but she implies that she has no intention of releasing either anytime soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although fans might be a teeny bit disappointed they won’t get Rep TV, ultimately, we can imagine her fans are excited that she has finally been given the opportunity to own her music, music videos, films and eras. They are all hers again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whilst it has been fun to see her reinventions of her old musical adventures, it raises important conversations about female artists being able to own their artistry in an often restrictive industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor said: \u201cEvery time a new artist tells me they negotiated to own their master recordings in their record contract because of this fight, I\u2019m reminded of how important it was for all of this to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor, in a battle that was completely restrictive of her own work and art, has been able to make it her own, fight for it back, and encourage others to do the same. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor thanks all of her fans for making this happen, but we thank Taylor for reminding us the importance of women to use their voices to own their hard work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
