South Yorkshire Police announced on its official website on Today that its “Project Servator” team will focus on deploying in the Meadowhall area to create an “absolutely assured” safe shopping atmosphere.

An increasing number of tourists are heading to Sheffield in the run-up to Christmas, leading South Yorkshire Police to step up security in the area.

Sergeant Jonathan Simpson, force co-ordinator for South Yorkshire Police,  claimed that: “If you see our Project Servator deployments in Meadowhall, Sheffield city centre, or anywhere across the force in the run-up to Christmas, there is nothing to worry about.”

“Project Servator deployments take place all year around and these deployments are not in response to any threat to the area and are deliberately unpredictable.”

The police officer also said that the goal of this project is to allow every resident to enjoy the joy of Christmas with peace of mind.
