The Big Ride for Palestine will take to the city of Sheffield this Sunday to call for a ceasefire in the Israel and Palestine war.
The organisation arranges annual bike rides in UK cities where people ride in Palestinian colours and fly Palestinian flags, showing their desire for peace in the Israel Palestine conflict.
Ellen Logan, one of the directors and main organisers of The Big Ride for Palestine, said: “We ride for freedom, justice and equality for all; and ultimately we ride for peace.”
The rides are 300 people strong and take place in Sheffield, London, Birmingham, Bristol, Swindon and Manchester.
Ellen Logan said: “We have partnered with the Gaza Sunbirds and the Amos Trust to organise bike rides across the UK this weekend… What we are currently seeing are war crimes being committed against a besieged and primarily civilian population.
“We are riding this weekend to demand the following from the UK government and shadow leadership, and wider international community: A ceasefire; to end the ongoing bloodshed and loss of civilian life.”
The ride will also raise awareness for Medical Aid Palestine, who are providing medical assistance to civilians in Gaza and the Gaza sunbirds, who provide Gazan families with meals and sanitary products.
Big ride for Palestine said on their website: “We ride in solidarity for those who are under siege, to raise our voice and to let the UK government know that we will not rest until there is a ceasefire and an end to the occupation, for freedom, justice and equality for all Palestinians.”
The ride begins at midday at Wicker Arches and will finish at 3pm Spital Hill.
It is supported by Gaza Sunbirds and the Amos trust.
