A 7-month-old baby is among the hundreds of people evacuated due to flooding in Catcliffe, Rotherham.
Szymon Olzycki and his family woke up at six o’clock Saturday morning to water creeping up their drive.
Three hours later, their living room was flooded with over one metre of water.
The family-of-three are currently staying at a friend’s house in Doncaster to look after the baby.
Mr. Olzycki said: “The baby’s alright, they don’t understand the trauma happening around them yet.
“It was terrible to go downstairs and see everything underwater. It happened so quickly, we had to move all the baby stuff we could out of the house.
“For now we don’t have any support, I don’t know what the next step is.”
The house was only purchased in June this year.
Residents of Catcliffe are left waiting to hear from insurance companies as the community comes together to clear out the flooded houses.
The floods are a result from the River Rother bursting its banks after Storm Babet.
This is the third time Catcliffe has flooded since 2000.
Clean ups are currently happening across Catcliffe, with teams from the environmental agency helping residents throw away items that have perished.
According to the government website, the flood risk in Rotherham for the next 5 days is very low.
