A seriously injured man died at the scene a short time later at the property in Redscope Crescent, Rotherham on the morning of 25 October.
According to a release from South Yorkshire Police, the murder investigation has been launched.
Two people were subsequently arrested on suspicion of murdering the victim in this case. They are a 43-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man. Preparations are still underway for a forensic autopsy and formal identification.
Police said Redscope Crescent has been closed while the investigation is ongoing.
