Sheffield students crashed the opening of a new University building in support of Palestine.
The protest was organised to stand with the Palestinian people, and to also address the University’s link with the arms trade.
In 2012 an FOI was discovered that showed the University of Sheffield received £72 million from the arms trade, affiliated to the war in Gaza.
This discovery was a catalyst for the rally, and was mentioned in the chants and on placards during the protest.
The protestors started the demonstration outside of the Wave building holding microphones and banners, and then proceeded to enter the building to occupy the space.
Security teams tried to lock all of the doors in an attempt to keep the protestors outside, however it left University students that were not involved, unable to leave or enter the building.
