Paul Heckingbottom is expected to be sacked as the Blades sit at the bottom of the league.

The South Yorkshire side lost 5-0 against Burnley, which is their 11th defeat this season.

Sheffield United have struggled for form of late with only one victory out of their 14 matches.

Chris Wilder is expected to replace Heckingbottom as manager, as Wilder previously led the club from League one to ninth in the Premier League.

Sky Sports News senior reporter Tim Thornton said: “We expect imminent news that Heckingbottom is the first manager to be sacked this season. We understand that Chris Wilder will take over, around 1,000 days after he left the club.

“It’s hugely disappointing for him [Heckingbottom] as he has had to deal with a transfer embargo and took over the side when it was struggling. He’s conducted himself really well in very difficult circumstances and he’ll leave the club with his head held high.”
