Rotherham’s Thurcroft’s library has reopened after the extensive refreshing of facilities and space.

On Tuesday 28 November 2023, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was officially held in the new library building next to the Gordon Bennett Memorial Hall, and it was announced that various reading activities for all ages would be held during the period.

Thurcroft is one of the latest public buildings to be refurbished under council-approved investment in the area, with the project providing opportunities for people to benefit from the library and its services.

Cllr David Sheppard, Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion, said: “Libraries are vital for our communities and offer so much more than lending books.

” They offer a place to meet, a place to get involved with new activities and a place to access services, so they need to change and adapt to meet the needs of the residents.”

Tom Collingham, Thurcroft Parish Council Clerk, said : ” We’re looking forward to welcoming residents here from now into the future. It’s great to be part of something wonderful, where children can learn and be inspired.”

Rotherham residents and local councillors attended the ceremony.
