A man has been jailed after using an encrypted messaging platform to deal drugs across the country.
Elliott Hopewell, 40, previously of Greenwood Avenue, Sheffield, sold drugs including cocaine, heroin and cannabis, with amounts ranging from 1kg to 5kg.
Iain Martin, Detective Inspector, said:”The communities of South Yorkshire and the surrounding regions can feel safer knowing that Hopewell is behind bars for a long time.
“Using a nickname on an encrypted platform, Hopewell probably thought he was untouchable and I hope his imprisonment acts as a deterrent to those involved in such crimes.”
Hopewell was connected to a vast drug network supplying drugs across the country, including Birmingham, Huddersfield, Wolverhampton and Selston, near Mansfield.
Hopewell pleaded guilty and was jailed for 15 years and five months at Newcastle Crown Court.
