A full-time nurse has been left apartment hopping after the Catcliffe floods have led to hundreds of people being evacuated.

Pumps have been brought in to clear the flood water from Rotherham, however the damage has already been done, as people have started to discard what is left of their homes.

Rose Kent, advanced nurse practitioner said: “I am drained, I am absolutely shattered, and I’m tired. You don’t sleep properly and I am apartment hopping at the moment with my two children, having to get Air Bnb’s every three to four nights”.

Mrs Kent’s house is one of the many that have been severely damaged from the flooding, and she has been left with a home with no power, gas or electricity.

She added: “This is the devastation I’m left with; it’s all sewage. This is what people need to see, as the water picked everything up and threw it everywhere.

“It’s not just the emotional side of losing things with sentimental value, but it will also take three or four months to dry the house out before anything can be done.”

Through all the devastation the community have come together to help those who have no homes to return too.

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council have stated that residents are still not allowed to go back to their homes due to safety concerns, however people will be notified when they can return.
