The National Curry Week 2023 officially started on 2 October and is now in full swing.
It aims to compete for the best Indian Curry in England, with Sheffield’s Indian community restaurants joining the celebration.
This event has been held 25 times, all promoting the Indian curry food culture and allowing more people in Sheffield to taste better taste.
During the event, Indian restaurants across Sheffield will be offering their unique curry dishes to show their support and respect for Curry Week. People can go to taste and give reviews and scores to choose better food.
Om Ramana, 41, owner of the Bambukat, one of the most popular Sheffield Indian restaurants, said in the interview: “Curry is one of India’s most traditional dishes, and there are many Indians in Sheffield and throughout England.
“This International Curry Week is a great way to get more people to know and try curry food. I think this makes a lot of sense and even makes some of the stereotypes about India look good.”
As well as opening up ratings for customers, many events and parties are taking place within Sheffield’s Indian community for National Curry Week.
Madhur Hydari is an Indian resident living in Sheffield who praises National Curry Week.
“We love curry.” She said: “Although many people don’t know about this festival, many of us try to make different curries and compare them among ourselves – in a friendly way, of course.”
“I think this International Curry Week should not only be attended and celebrated by Indians, but it should also be inclusive and open, and people of different races in the UK can come and learn about and taste it. This is an excellent opportunity.
International Curry Week 2023 activities are ongoing, and Sheffield’s major Indian restaurants are also actively participating, encouraging people to understand and join.
