Shops and businesses have been left without water access following a serious pipe burst in Sheffield City Centre earlier today.

The incident occurred around midday when construction workers, currently working at the bottom of Fargate, burst through a water pipe.

Yorkshire water were instantly contacted by the contractors and have now arrived at the scene.

Some shops and businesses, including the Cafe Nero and Boots stores on High Street, have had to close their doors due to the burst.

Access to roads and surrounding shops is still possible, but pedestrians are being warned by construction workers to take care where paths are flooded.

The incident is still ongoing.
