Roundabout’s Christmas fundraising is underway to help raise money to support their young people over the festive period.

The charity supports over 380 homeless experienced young people everyday, during the winter months Roundabout ‘needs people’s support more than ever’ to help cover the cost of core services and festivities.

Will Shaw, Fundraising Administrator, said: ‘‘ Christmas is a very busy time for Roundabout. It can be hard for the young people who wouldn’t normally be able to enjoy the nice festive things most of us take for granted.

‘’This means that it is easy for the young people to feel lonely, and isolated from their peers which is why Roundabout tries so hard to give each young person we support a Christmas to remember, to help them feel loved and valued over the festive season.’’

The charity supports some of the most vulnerable in society, the young people may be struggling to pay bills, living below the poverty line or be estranged from their families.

Mr Shaw said: ‘’We offer so much more than a roof over the heads of the young people in our service, and this is particularly apparent over the Christmas period.’’

The charity aims to provide a Christmas present and dinner for each young person in their service, and supplies Christmas trees for each of their residential projects which the young people can decorate.

He said: ‘’It is the little things like this to help us change the lives of the young people using our services, helping them to feel valued, which makes it easier to address any other issues in their lives.’’

On 2 December Roundabout supporters will be walking a 20km route along the Three Edges, in the Peak District, with the hope to raise £10,000 to ensure the young people wake up to a gift voucher on Christmas day.

Alongside the hike, people can donate, give a gift or buy a Christmas card which has been designed by local artists.
