The Sheffield Steelers unveiled new signing Zach Vinnell with a standing ovation at the Utilita Arena last night.
Vinnell has made 15 appearances in the 23-24 season playing for the Glasgow Clan in a defensive role.
His signing comes in the wake of defender Sam Jones picking up a six week injury.
Head coach Aaron Fox said: “Zach is a player who will give us that much needed depth and flexibility in our group especially during this crazy schedule we have the next 5 weeks.
“We wanted to make sure that we were able to find a good fit and someone who understands the situation he’s coming into. He’s looking to work hard and compete for ice time and hopefully help us to achieve our goals.”
Steelers fans embraced Vinnell before their match against the Guildford Flames, which ended in a 3-2 loss in a penalty shootout.

Coach Aaron Fox was only “a little bit disappointed” with the result, and he enjoyed his side’s push back and chance creation in the match.
The Steelers go again tonight as they face the Fife Flyers on the road.
