Following the onslaught of rain from Storm Babet, Reverend Chris Nutall has set up a GoFundMe to help support those in both Treeton and Catcliffe.

Last Friday, residents of Sheffield were notified of an amber weather warning that led to floods, burst river banks, and travel disruptions.

The Met Office reported Sheffield to have the highest rainfall total of 84mm.

Rev Nutall, 53, Minister at Treeton Baptist Church, said: ‘‘ We are the forgotten village. People forget that properties in Treeton have also been damaged.

”I want to look after residents in Treeton as much as Catcliffe but everyone has just been going on about how it has affected people in Catcliffe.

‘’Not one person from the media or from what I can see, any MP has been to Treeton.’’

Treeton is the neighbouring village of Catcliffe, they are connected by three roads which all flooded during the storm.

Rev Nutall said: ‘’It happened in 2007, it happened in 2019, and now it’s happening again.

‘’Every time there’s floods, residents in Treeton and Catcliffe are told flood defences have been put in, it will never happen again, and yet now it has.’’

Church members and people from the community, in and outside of Treeton, have ‘rallied together’ to organise donations.

He said: ‘’We physically can’t accept any more donations apart from cleaning products because we just don’t have the space to store them.’’

Similarly to Treeton, Rotherham Council announced that they cannot accept further donations as Catcliffe Memorial Hall is full.

Rev Nutall is hoping to do his bit for the community by raising money to distribute equally between the damaged properties.
