After commissioning a new mural earlier this month, Tuesday saw Sheffield FC celebrate their 166-year anniversary since being founded.
Known for being the oldest club in the history of football, Sheffield FC has embraced its position of cultural importance by giving back to the local community.
The club commissioned Luke Horton Art to create a mural on Snuff Mill Lane which pays homage to the strong footballing roots of the city.
In a video posted to his instagram, Mr Horton said: “The mural encompasses all things Sheffield – it’s the home of football.”
As well as depicting Sheffield FC’s badge, it also features references to the city’s other major clubs, Sheffield Wednesday and United.
It also includes other staple features of Sheffield life, such as Henderson’s relish and The Leadmill.
Describing themselves as a ‘club at the heart of their community’, Sheffield FC seems keen to continue their efforts to grow the local footballing scene.
The club was due to play a birthday fixture against Elite AFC in the County Cup on Tuesday evening, but the match was postponed until 31 October after Storm Babet caused the pitch to flood.
