As the Christmas season approaches, temperatures continue to drop and families on low incomes are beginning to feel the pinch, and are left unable to afford Christmas dinner or Christmas presents.
With one in four people in Sheffield living in poverty, the cost of living crisis has hit families across the city. And with 30% of children within Sheffield living in poverty it’s likely some families will go hungry at Christmas.
Here are wide range of charities and non-profit organisations that you can help this christmas to help the ongoing crisis across the city;
- S12 Community Pantry is an organisation that uses donations and volunteers, the volunteers collect food from supermarkets to bring free food and drinks to anyone who needs it, as well as selling nutritious meals for low prices.

- Shelter Sheffield is the Sheffield branch of the national charity Shelter. The organisation aims to find housing for individuals and families across the city.

- Homeless and Rootless at Christmas is a project that has been running for nearly 35 years. The project aims to provide shelter for the homeless and vulnerable across the city between Christmas and New Year, as well as providing three hot meals a day.

- Roundabout Local Youth Housing charity is a service run by Sheffield City Council that aims to eliminate youth homelessness across the city as well as South Yorkshire. The service aims to support young people with their health, education and employment to help them get off the streets.
