A Christmas tree collection has been set up to raise money for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity for the fifth year running.
Joel Berry, 37, Landscape Gardener and Tree Surgeon, has been running the collection and donating money to the charity since January 2018.
Mr Berry said: “I had a bad hip break when I was thirteen and received excellent care from the children’s hospital.
“One of my daughters had a seriously life-threatening condition a few years and we were left in such a scary position but she was amazingly cared for at the children’s hospital.”
The annual christmas tree collection to raise money for the charity will begin on January 7th, with bookings being taken from December 1st.
The company collects trees from all over Sheffield, except from Rotherham postcodes or from North Sheffield (S35).
Mr Berry said: “The aim is to just raise as much donations as we can with no fixed figure because its so important to me.
“Last year we raised over £22,000 which I was so happy with.”
The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity fundraises money to support medical treatment and patients at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Mr Berry and his colleague Mitchel Ingham collect the trees from outside the house and dispose of them by processing them for biomass, chipping, or donating them to local allotments.
There is a minimum suggested donation of £10 for a collected tree, and up to £25 for a much larger one. With all proceeds going to charity. To sign up to the tree collection and donate money click the link here.
