The Handsworth Inn, in Handsworth, Sheffield, has asked for spare toys across Sheffield to donate to desperate children this Christmas.
Katie Marsden, 31, landlord of the Handsworth Inn, said: “If anyone has any unwanted toys they could donate please do, it’s for kids in the local area that might not get anything at Christmas otherwise.
“Let’s do our bit for the community at Christmas.”
The Inn have been running their annual Christmas toy appeal every year for four years.
Toys are collected from the bar at the Inn or people can donate money towards buying toys from the start of November to the 18th of December.
Toys in any condition, for all ages and gender are accepted.
Almost 30% of children in Sheffield are now living in poverty, and help groups and hospitals have become increasingly strained for resources, with over 8,000 of these below aged five
Miss Marsden said: “We pick a different charity each year but it’s all for underprivileged kids, that so desperately need it.
“This year it’s going to the Handsworth Food Bank, who have families in need of help.”
Handsworth Food Bank has been open since 2014 and has provided over 750 emergency supplies to people in crisis in the last year.
The Food Bank, said on their website, : “We want to make sure that no one in our local community has to go hungry, but we need your help to make this happen. Your gift of financial support, time, business partnership and food can make a real difference.
“Especially during this christmas season when some families with young children have to chose between heating and eating.”
