As the Euros are only just round the corner and the excitement levels for each nation start to grow, the provisional squads have been announced for most of the teams in the competition with some of the squads having some of the top prospects in world football. This a top 10 ranking of the top young talents aged 21 or under.
10. Kobbie Mainoo, Manchester United, Central Midfielder, England, 19
Manchester United’s new prospect has taken the season in his stride with multiple man of the match performances. His performances earned him his first England call up in March and hasn’t looked back since. With 4 goals and 1 assist since being a regular in the United team he is expected to start this summer in England’s midfield this summer.
9. Destiny Udogie, Tottenham Hotspur, Left Back, Italy, 20
Udogie has had a very impressive debut season at Spurs, contributing with 3 assists and 6 clean sheets. The left back has been put in many pundits’ teams of the season and has a very bright future ahead of him. Udogie is looking to help the reigning champions to back to back glory this summer.
8. Nico Williams, Athletic Bilbao, Right Wing, Spain, 21
The pacey winger has had a very successful season winning the Copa Del Rey in Spain shifting the top 3 dominances in the competition and bringing the trophy to Bilbao to end a 40 year trophy drought. Williams recorded 4 goals and 12 assists this season. Williams will be hoping to carry the same form into the Euros.
7. João Neves, Benfica, Central Defensive Midfielder, Portugal, 19
Neves has a brilliant breakout season this season with an estimated transfer value of around £130 million pounds. Neves featured heavily in the league as well as Benfica’s Europa League, Neves will be hoping to qualify further than the quarter finals with his country this summer.
6. Xavi Simons, RB Leipzig, Central Attacking Midfielder, The Netherlands, 21
The Dutch wonderkid came through at Barcelona’s La Masia academy, Simmons joined PSG making 13 appearances before joining PSV on loan and taking the Eredevisie by storm in his home nation. Now at RB Leipzig he has continued his impressive form with 10 goals and 15 assists this season. Simmons will be looking to carry his form into the Euros.
5. Warren Zaire-Emery, Paris Saint Germain, Central Attacking Midfielder, France, 18
The PSG midfielder broke through this season and has really impressed under Luis Enrique, at some a young age Zaire-Emery has predicted to become one of the world’s top midfielders. Zaire-Emery has already made his France debut this year but is expected to make a big impact off the bench for France this Euros.
4. Jamal Musiala, Bayern Munich, Central Attacking Midfielder, Germany, 21
Musiala started his career at Chelsea as well as representing England at youth level. However, he joined Bayern Munich in 2020 and decided to switch allegiances to Germany, the country of his birth. Musiala has impressed again this season with 10 goals and 6 assists in an injury hit season. Musiala has played 27 times for Germany already and is expected to play a big part for the hosts this summer.
3. Lamine Yamal, FC Barcelona, Right Wing, Spain,16
The 16 year old has had some serious comparisons to the next Mbappe and next Messi already after an incredible breakthrough season becoming Barca’s youngest . Under Barca legend Xavi, Yamal has recorded 7 goals and 10 assists in his debut season for the European giants. Yamal also became Spain’s youngest player and scorer and is expected to play a part for Spain.
2. Florian Wirtz, Bayer Leverkusen, Attacking Midfield, Germany, 21
Wirtz has had a record breaking season with an unbeaten league campaign with Bayer Leverkusen this season and potentially added a Europa League and DFB Pokal titles to his trophy cabinet. He has thrived under Xavi Alonso with 18 goals and 20 assist in all competitions which helped him receive the player of the year in the Bundesliga. The hosts will be hoping he can bring the same form for the national team in their home tournament.
1. Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid, Central Attacking Midfield, England, 20
There was only going to be one winner for this tier list as Bellingham has had an outrageous first season for Los Blancos. He has 23 goals and 12 assists all season in all competitions helping him being nominated as the player of the season in La Liga. He is also one of the favourites to win the Ballon D’or for this year, if England manages to win the Euros, he is certainly favourite to win it.
