Changing rooms can be scary places. Sitting next to a 40 year old man you have never met, on a cold and wet Sunday morning in a concrete shack, that has been conveniently placed in a derelict field, somewhere in the middle of nowhere is daunting to say the least.
Then the chain smoking captain arrives with what looks like a spaceship but is in fact a speaker which he turns to full volume. Any chance of a conversation is now completely off the cards as all your focus and attention turns to the music blaring out of an unnecessarily big speaker.
This type of scenario is not entirely far fetched as there are many dressing rooms across the country that will follow a similar structure. The principle is, it is rare that you really do get a say in what pre-game tunes you listen to after getting out of the car.
The tunes people like to listen to before a game can vary across many different genres. House has had a major rise in play time in changing rooms whilst any form of rap still has his loyalties.
There’s always been time for the mainstream pop scene after a big win however any Taylor Swift before kick off could be the deciding factor to the result.
The beauty of a changing room is the people inside it. The cultures, the nationalities, the diversity; they are a mixed bag in the most positive sense.
Each changing room may have their own Vinnie Jones or Mario Balotelli but at the end of the day you all share the same roof (sometimes showers) for an hour on a matchday all with the same purpose in mind. To win.
Therefore, here’s a collection of the perfect changing room music intentionally curated to cover all genres of music appealing to the different cultures that may be present in your team.
