Your playlist for the Euros

Euro 2024 is just whiskers away now with the first game commencing between hosts Germany and the small town in the north of England, Scotland. This means all football fans have a valid excuse and licence to engross themselves in watching football, talking football and even playing some footy for a whole month.

World Cups and European Championships can define summers for sport lovers; however, being English has its limitations in how well each summer can be defined. Nevertheless, the Euros this summer, starting on Friday 14th June, will be a spectacle.

Watching the Euros in England is a pretty linear format for many. I’m sure we all have that one friend who has an absolute ‘man cave’ of a shed who has been saying all year how they can not wait to host this tournament at theirs.

If not, then I imagine it will be a swift trip to the nearest beer garden where you may decide to head down only four hours before for a few practice beers just to ‘calm the nerves’.

Whatever watching angle you go for, it is essential that the necessary Euros and summer anthems are being played to ensure that you are helping out in doing your part to ‘Bring football home again’.

‘Three Lions’ is completely non-negotiable and is a certain must to get you having serious Euro fever before and and during the tournament. ‘World in Motion’ by New Order is another timeless archive of English football optimism that will have you betting on Harry Kane hat tricks.

Alongside such England football staples it is crucial you have a balance of general summer and football tunes to accompany hall of fame anthems.

It may be a dabble in some Jess Glynne to get you in the mood to stroll into that beer garden with your shades on and your faith in the Waistcoat. Maybe keeping it classic, returning to pure football culture routes by cranking on some Oasis whilst exploring ‘A town called Malice’.

Here is a playlist exceptionally crafted to help bring football home whilst creating that false optimism that always seems to hit us right in the heart every time.
