Formula One Drivers Go to Songs on Race Day Playlist:

This playlist looks at what the best F1 drivers in the world listen to before lights out on a race weekend:

Max Verstappen: Green Green Grass of Home by Tom Jones

One that people may not expect from the three time world champion. However, in an article before the Las Vegas Grand Prix by the BBC, Christian Horner asked the flying Dutchman’s dad, Jos Verstappen, what his favourite tune was, he replied that he is a fan of the welsh legends iconic 1966 tune. Who would have thought it!

Sergio Perez: Regrésame Mi Corazón by Carlos Rivera

It doesn’t come as a shock that the Mexican native is a massive fan of Mexican pop music with Perez admitting that he is a big fan of his good friend Carlos Rivera’s work with Regrésame Mi Corazón featuring on a playlist designed by the driver on Spotify, he has also said he likes Color Esperanza by Diego Torres.

Charles Leclerc: The Adults Are Talking by The Strokes

The Monocase F1 driver is a big fan of music, being a talented pianist himself, he says that he loves the indie classic by The Strokes as a song before any race. He has also admitted that he is also a fan of Coldplay and Hans Zimmer as well.

Carlos Sainz: Smooth Operator by Sade

This shouldn’t come to be a surprise for any fans of Spanish F1 driver, as he has made this song his own, announcing himself as the smooth operator on track after giving the fans a rendition of the song after every race win that he has had in the Ferrari car, and he isn’t a bad singer either.

Lando Norris: Lose it All by Sam Tompkins

The fan favourite F1 driver has admitted that he has a wide range of music that he enjoys but after recently revealing his Spotify wrapped for 2023, Lose it All came out on top, followed by Last Last by Burna Boy and Antisocial by iithe1st, that is some range Lando!

Oscar Piastri: House Music

Oscar is the first driver on the list that admits that music is not really part of his life and especially his race preparations. However he has said that he does enjoy the genre of House. Come on Oscar the fans want to know!

Lewis Hamilton: Lost by Frank Ocean

The seven time world champion and some would consider the greatest of all time said at the Las Vegas Grand Prix that he is really enjoying Ocean’s work recently. However he revealed that he thinks it is Prince that is the greatest of all time.

George Russell: Homecoming by Kanye West featuring Chris Martin

The British driver expected to take the reins at Mercedes after Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari next season, says that the Kanye West banger is his song of choice to help him get in the zone before every race day.

Fernando Alonso: Tu Jardín con enanitos by Melandi

During an interview with Spanish outlet Marca, the two time world champion says that he loved his fellow Oviedo natives songs, whilst he also admitted that he is a fan of Barcelona’s own Rosalía and Taylor Swift. He isn’t the only driver that is swifty.

Again it comes as no surprise that Yuki is a fan of Japanese pop music, he revealed that the popular group’s song is his hype song of choice to help with his preparations on race day.

Daniel Ricciardo: Our Song by Taylor Swift

Told you Fernando wasn’t the only Swifty! The Honey Badger revealed to the P1 podcast that Our Song was his personal favourite as it was the first song that he heard from her and it has stuck ever since. He even gave a little rendition too!

Just like Oscar, Nico hasn’t recently revealed what his favourite song is but has said to Sky Sports that he was a fan of The Eagles tune back in 2016. However, he did reveal is a fan of house music recently. Who knows when it comes to the Hulk!

Kevin Magnussen: Fut I Fejemøget by John Mogensen

The Danish F1 driver is a fan of one of Denmark’s favourite artists from back in the 1970s specialising in pop folk. Kevin says that Fut I Fejemøget is his song of choice to get him ready for the race. Each to their own I guess.

Alex Albon: Not revealed

Alex is the first and only driver to not reveal what music he is into. Hence why this playlist is only 19 songs instead of 20. Maybe one day we will get to hear what Albon listens to on race day.

Logan Sargeant: Lose Yourself by Eminem

The American driver has said that he is a massive rap fan, with Lose Yourself being his go-to song at every single race to hype himself up. Personally that is a great choice Logan!

Valtteri seems to be absolutely loving life at Stake-Kick Sauber these days after having the pressure lifted of being the second driver at Mercedes to Hamilton. However, he admitted that his song choices “change every week” as songs such as Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Pretty Fly by the Offspring have also been his favourites.

Estaban Ocon: Hate it or Love it by 50 Cent

Estaban said that his pre race preparations include the classic hit by 50 cent to help him get into the zone before the race. Both Alpine drivers have said that they are both big hip-hop/rap fans. Maybe they can agree on something for once!
