Quarter-Final Drama

The rivalries were stronger and the stakes greater in the quarters:

Barnsley Women’s FC v Barnsley FC Women – The derby, which was all-Barnsley, was taken by Barnsley Women’s FC in a nail-biting climax.

Sheffield Wednesday Ladies v Sheffield United – Wednesday took another hard-fought derby in a tight round of voting.

Doncaster Rovers Belles v Sheffield FC – A battle of the big guns, but Sheffield FC overcame adversity to advance.

SJR Worksop v Handsworth Ladies – SJR Worksop continued their run with another good display in the battle of the underdogs.

Semi-Final Match-Ups

Barnsley Women’s FC v Sheffield Wednesday Ladies – Barnsley were the best side in a voting showpiece that was incredibly narrow.

Sheffield FC v SJR Worksop – To the shock of everybody, SJR Worksop beat one of the favourites of the competition in a heart-stopping upset to reach the final!

The Grand Final

Barnsley Women’s FC v SJR Worksop

The day had finally come: the trusty Barnsley Women’s FC against the underdogs SJR Worksop. With everything to play for, the final did not disappoint.

In a gritty, energetic, and rallying cry from both clubs, SJR Worksop continued to defy expectations, showing teamwork and resilience in the 180 votes they received across X and Instagram. Their underdog to champion status is one of the most surprising, but satisfying stories in the short history of SYWF.

Congratulations to SJR Worksop – proof that a club showing belief, solidarity, and determination can overcome anything.
