We caught up with former Sheffield Wednesday Ladies star Kirsty Tonner, who gave insight into her life and career with an A-Z interview.

A- ANGRIEST moment in women’s football for you?
I think when we went back to play Handsworth after I’d left them. I wasn’t angry, but we were winning 3-0 and they nearly ended up coming back 3-2. I was absolutely kicking off, saying ‘I’m not losing to these’ and we didn’t. It ended up 3-2. if I gotta be I mean this can’t be your best moment as a women’s manager.
B- BEST moment as a women’s manager?
The Rotherham game in the Her Game Too Trophy.
C- A moment you regret in your women’s football CAREER?
Probably not being a goalkeeper earlier.

D- Derby day: Sheffield United or Sheffield Wednesday?
Wednesday…that’s a good question, because if Jess Birtles was he, she’d be United.
E- EARLIEST women’s football memory?
I played for a boys team from under nine. Only girl in the team.
F- Favourite post-match FOOD?
They did a really good pizza at the Jubilee, actually. Jubilee jewels. The fries were lovely – shoutout to Jubilee Jules.
G- Greatest women’s GOAL you’ve ever seen live?
Ella Tombs equaliser for the euros 2022.
H- HENDERSON’S relish- YES or NO?
Absolutely [proceeds to show Henderson’s Relish tattoo] – nod of approval by the SYWF team for that one.
I- Who’s been your biggest football INSPIRATION?
I used to love David Hurst a lot but that’s when I was younger. Now I’d probably say something like Lucy Bronze.

A lot more attention on it for the better and also for the worst.
X- X-RAY: worst injury you’ve suffered
I’ve only ever really sprained my ankle really badly. Outside of football, I hurt my arm once and had a big skin graft coming out of it. I was in hospital for quite a while with that.
She’s literally won every individual accolade possible this year. She’s pushed Nike to releasing the jersey and it’s selling out instantly, because people want it. She’s made change both on and off the pitch. Shame you never did.

Y- What are YOUR dreams for the women’s game?
Just to have people stop being so awful about it. I see a lot of videos on TikTok from the England game on Tuesday saying why are they walking, they’re not running. Why is this equal pay? They’re just being dicks.
Z- ZZZZ: What bores you the most in life?
That’s a really hard one because I kind of like life. it’s quite fun.
