That\u2019s no different for Ryan Evans, who works for BBC Sport as an analysis producer whilst also producing features, montages and openers for Match of the Day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e89ddf87849a2a720878f4aacc10e8f9\">Last Sunday, Gary Lineker signed off from presenting Match of the Day after 26 years and the show ended with two separate montages. Gary\u2019s is obviously significantly bigger because he\u2019s been there as the face of Match of the Day for 25 years. It was stressful given how political he\u2019s been.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2ad487e010704a9e6d18fa6f91713e90\">The first montage was a combination of Gary\u2019s playing career, his punditry and his presenting career along with messages from people including Alan Hanson, Ian Wright, Claudio Ranieri and his three sons.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-07615dbd35a05d286a62297099b9502a\">\u201cTrying to condense all that down into seven\/eight minutes is a task itself. It\u2019s all about making sure when you\u2019re doing a montage that long that you don\u2019t lose the audience with boredom. You have to structure it in a way that\u2019s almost chapter-like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a9fbea947ee435172c5e2c80ca202714\"><strong>\u201cHaving that family element was the most emotional bit. The big reaction happened with Wrighty last year with his grandkids and it was the same this year with Gary and his sons.\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Gary Lineker&#039;s final sign-off from Match of the Day | BBC Sport\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E6djZoyadlU?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Working on the analysis: <\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-06db8197a28a20475936f57988284c4c\">Over the three years, Ryan has spent most of his time working as an analysis producer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6544fbfb640a4d6a0d208b56f6fc6dfa\">An average Saturday sees Ryan arrive at Media City at 12pm ahead of the first game of the day before watching the rest of the day&#8217;s matches with the pundits, the presenter and the programme editor and director.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3a262e1c10354355d33072ed401de0c9\">\u201cAs we\u2019re watching the games, I\u2019m making notes and time codes with certain players, passages of play and the way the team is set up.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-58f4a1a61fc49aa3d684ad0d70b3f4c6\">\u201cIt\u2019s up to them, in collaboration with me, to come up with what it is we can talk about, why a team has won a certain game, why this player has had an unbelievable game.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-832136a05a02a1fb8836065b8103031b\">\u201cWe have the BBC statisticians, so they provide all the facts and stats to enable us to back up our analysis.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8a8612c732d538062156d77b6f167356\">Across a season, Ryan works with over twenty different pundits who are all bound to have different approaches to analysing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4e735cd459e71f5766d38c046fd4cacf\">\u201cDanny Murphy is our best analytical pundit. When he watches a game, he\u2019s writing all his own stuff down, he\u2019s making notes of time codes. He quickly establishes what is going on in the game and what he wants to talk about. He\u2019s very quick at spotting a pattern.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-64cde08ad7ca3d51b17e066fceb102c9\">\u201cAlan Shearer is great. In collaboration with you hone is on something and as soon as he\u2019s honed in on that he will be like, this is what we\u2019re delivering.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-56a86063c4226dc37da75f8b3ee6b325\">\u201cMicah is also really analytical. When the game is going on, we\u2019ve re-showing their analysis and all the graphics. I\u2019ll be talking them through their clips and making sure they\u2019re nailing their points when it comes to the live delivery of that.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-0df152620b0deaf7929b4af9f5bdbdf1\">\u201cSometimes they\u2019ll need a prompt. Martin Keown will actively ask for live prompts. So when we move from one clip to another, I\u2019ll say something like \u2018Bryan Mbeumo\u2019s second goal\u2019 and that just reminds him what the clip is at the start.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9320a3d265e786b132b67a71cb06fb9a\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Working on MOTD: <\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-148b86ef77b3045b9cce00679ed2dc72\">For any football fan, which Ryan is, Match of the Day is the most historic live sports show. But what is it like working on such a British institution?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9641a56ba31f59f5bc16af2826a706fa\">\u201cFun! I get to sit there every Saturday and Sunday and watch football with some of the most iconic footballers in the Premier League.
