The new season of Celebrity Traitors is currently being filmed and will be on our screens by autumn. The likes of Alan Carr, Stephen Fry, Paloma Faith, Jonathan Ross and Kate Garraway will be appearing on our tellies.
The celebrities will face weeks in the Scottish Highlands, battling with one another in a game of deception for a chance to win £100,000 for their chosen charities.
Traitors Worldwide
This isn’t the first all star season to air on television though. Both France and the United States having their own versions. The United States’ adaptation combines regular people with celebs. With contestants including: Bob the Drag Queen (the winner of the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race), Rob Mariano (a television personality), and Lord Ivar Mountbatten (a British aristocrat and TV personality) alongside a hoard of regular contestants.
The American series is hosted by movie star Alan Cumming and uses the same set and props as the UK version. There is also a web series, The Traitors Postmortem, is available. It contains additional footage and interviews with eliminated contestants, it’s accessible through Peacock YouTube channel.
France, alongside having a regular Traitors show, have introduced The Traitors: Nouvelle Génération (Next Generation). This includes contestants exclusively from the world of social media and digital content. The show is hosted by their classic host, Éric Antoine, at the Château de Biron in Dordogne. The series was first broadcast in September of 2024 with Andy Raconte, Briac Glaud & LeBouseuh winning as Faithfuls.
Though other countries haven’t followed suit and created a series of Celebrity Traitors of their own, different variations of the original series are popping up each year. The UK version of the series is adapted from the original Dutch show: De Verraders (Dutch for The Traitors). The original season of this show was aired in 2021 and has spawned 5 subsequent seasons since then.
