A women and two teenage boys have been found guilty of murder following an incident in Ponderosa Park on March 9.

Rebecca Moore, 25, of no fixed address, will be sentenced alongside Barney Griffin, 18, and a 17-year old male who can’t be named for legal reasons.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Wood, the Senior Investigating Officer in the case said: “Sacad Ali was lured to his death by Moore who arranged to meet him in Ponderosa Park before he was brutally attacked by two teenage boys.”

Griffin was 17 when he committed the murder and therefore remained anonymous, however has since been identified.

Dect. Chief Wood said: “Armed with machetes, they violently assaulted Sacad before all three fled the scene, leaving a young man to die on his own in a park.”

Moore and the two boys were arrested on March 12 after Sacad was stabbed multiple times in the early hours of the morning and pronounced dead just after 5am.

Moore appeared on trial at Sheffield Crown Court on October 21 after denying the murder charge.

On November 11 she was found guilty of murder following a 16-day trial.

The two teenagers previously pleaded guilty to both the possession of a bladed article and the murder of 24-year-old Sacad.

Dect. Chief Wood said: “Knife crime has already taken too many young lives and my thoughts go out to Sacad’s family, friends and loved ones as they continue to navigate this tragic loss.

“Sacad and his family have been at the forefront of the whole team’s minds throughout our inquiry, and while life will never be the same for them again, I hope the guilty verdict for Moore and earlier guilty pleas go some way towards offering a small sense of justice in light of their unimaginable grief.”

Moore and the two boys will be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on November 25.
