The Blades lost their second consecutive match after Middlesbrough made home advantage count in a 1-0 win.
Sheffield United fans will be highly disappointed to have conceded a late goal, as Emmanuel Latte Lath ghosted between the centre half, nodding a free header past Michael Cooper.
Chris Wilder, Blades’ manager, said: “Never said we would be the best team in the world, although some people might think we are the opposite, but we aren’t. We were just a little loose in key moments.”
Despite the goal, key issues will continue to centre forward as Welsh international Kieffer Moore continues to struggle in Wilder’s style.
Moore has now only managed one goal in his opening eleven league appearances, with similarly poor form from alternatives in the first team.
Middlesbrough, on the other hand, will be extremely pleased with the performance, with Seny Dieng collecting the clean sheet.
George Edmundson proved to be influential, with several authoritative blocks minimising the blades’ access to goal.
George Edmundson said: “It’s my job there to defend the shots. As a back unit, we got positives in there, and everyone is dead happy.”
Though United will take positives with the introduction of Sydie Peck and Olly Arblaster’s double pivot. Continuing to display the quality the Blades Academy has always produced.
Sheffield United’s next opponent will be struggling Stoke City, as they will hope to return to winning ways.
